Our Impact
We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to live a healthy, productive life, and there is nothing more life-changing than providing a child with a family and education. That’s why we care for orphaned and vulnerable children by developing and sustaining family-style orphan villages.
Why It Matters.
THE NEED
Over 90% of orphans in the world live in low-and-middle-income countries.
These children are orphaned from things like HIV/AIDS and armed conflict. With no one to care for them, many of these children suffer from hunger, malnutrition, and lack of education.
We create lasting change by equipping in-country organizations and individuals with the tools, infrastructure, and resources to improve the lives of children in need.
Our Approach
OUR SOLUTION
We care for orphaned and vulnerable children by developing and sustaining family-style orphan villages. We also build and support schools for children. Education is the foundation of a hopeful, productive future, yet in the world today, millions of children do not have the opportunity to attend primary school. We work with our partners to provide educational opportunities for children that have limited or no access to education.

Family-Style Orphan Villages
Each village provides a safe and loving refuge for children who have been orphaned or abandoned. Currently, we have partner family village homes in Oradea and Timisoara, Romania; Surat Thani, Thailand, and Atiak and Jinja, Uganda.
Education
We believe that educating children not only provides them with knowledge, it also gives them stability, teaches them how to overcome obstacles, prepares them for better jobs, and most importantly, gives them hope for the future.
Life’s Basic Necessities
In each orphan village, children are given access to nutritious meals, clean drinking water, healthcare services, hygiene products and the love and care from dedicated in-country house parents.
Romania
Caminul Felix, Oradea, Romania
Caminul Felix has 16 large family homes, each providing a mother and father for a dozen or more orphaned and abandoned children.
JHOR, Timișoara, Romania
JHOR addresses the needs of vulnerable people of all ages, caring for orphans at Onesimus House as well as programs to house the elderly and feed the poor.
Uganda
Sister Rosemary & Sewing Hope Children’s Village, Atiak Uganda
We have partnered with Sister Rosemary to build ten homes, a school and medical clinic, supporting her vision to provide housing, education, and care for orphaned children, young women, and refugees.
New Dawn Africa Fund, Entebbe, Uganda
New Dawn addresses the needs of some of the most vulnerable people in the local community, especially those affected by HIV/AIDS. Assist International is proud to partner with New Dawn to support various programs and educational initiatives.
AOET, Jinja, Uganda
Assist International partnered with AOET when they were caring for just under 300 children; today they reach over 4000! We were able to build 24 orphan family homes, a high school and enabling AOET to reach many more vulnerable children.
Thailand
Felix Family Village, Surat Thani, Thailand
The Felix family-style model expanded to Thailand In 2007 with 10 large family homes providing a mother and father for orphaned and abandoned children.
