Global Health
Every day, thousands of people die from curable or treatable causes because of a lack of adequate health care. In the Global South, nearly 1 in 8 children die before the age of five.
How We’re Doing It
Global Health Programs
Oxygen
We provide comprehensive oxygen access solutions in the Global South, including last-mile communities. Our solutions include innovative oxygen production, distribution, ownership models, and technical & clinical trainings. To-date, we have provided 150 hospitals access to life-saving oxygen.
Healthcare Technology Management
Our HTM program strengthens the medical device eco-system so medical equipment is available for safe & effective use when patients need it. We train biomedical engineers and technicians to manage the lifecycle of medical equipment with routine maintenance and critical repair.
Impact Anesthesia
Led by Vanderbilt University and AIC Kijabe, we partner to support The Improving Perioperative & Anesthesia Care and Training (ImPACT) Africa and Mobile Obstetric Team Training (MOST) programs that address serious needs around anesthesia in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Tanzania, training over 600 health workers to-date.
Equip Health Facilities
With support from local collaborators, we identify barriers that prevent equitable access to healthcare in low-resource settings. We then work with our network of partners to address the barriers by providing appropriate medical equipment, education, and other solutions through a wide range of programs and projects.
Project Echo
Project ECHO is a virtual educational platform that connects medical experts to frontline healthcare providers, delivering remote clinical training, mentoring, and active support.
Safe Surgery 2020
Since 2015, we have worked to improve surgical quality in low- and middle-income countries. To date the partnership has trained over 1750 surgical workers and placed 215 surgical equipment pieces across Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Cambodia.
Tele-Education Program
Increasing the capacity of local healthcare providers and strengthening healthcare systems worldwide.

COVID-19 RESPONSE
Assist International is committed to bringing our experience, resources, and partners together to meet the increasing needs facing communities here in the U.S. and around the world.
“In previous times we lost many children because of lack of oxygen. Since oxygen is critically important for neonates to survive, the [Assist International] oxygen plant saves the lives of many neonates that could be dead because of the lack of oxygen.”
— NICU Nurse, Ethiopia, 2021.
