New Dawn is a non-profit organization in Entebbe, Uganda, that addresses the needs of some of the most vulnerable people in the local community, especially those affected by HIV/AIDS. New Dawn runs a variety of programs, including a nutrition program for mothers and infants, a beauty school, tailoring classes, a counseling program for people living with HIV/AIDS and their families, and educational initiatives.

Women and children are oftentimes hurt the most as a result of HIV/AIDS. Many women, after the death of their husband, must bear the responsibility of raising their children and running the household on their own. Many children are born infected with the virus, and as a result, they are more likely to dropout out of school and end up living on the streets.
