We are excited to celebrate the completion of the Kirk and Julie Cousins House at the AOET Village in Jinja, Uganda.
In 2016, while teammates for the Washington Redskins, Nate Sudfeld and Kirk Cousins made a friendly wager. The Indiana Hoosiers, Nate’s alma mater, were taking Michigan State, Kirk’s alma mater, in a regular season football game. It was decided that the player whose team lost would have to wear a school shirt the following day as well as make a donation to the other’s charity of choice. The Hoosiers won the game! Kirk was a good sport and made a donation to Assist International.
Nate has been on several trips to Uganda with teams from Assist International. He has done some incredible work in the area, and it was very important to him that this donation made an impact in the region that had made such an impact on him.
With Kirk’s donation, we were able to build a home at the AOET Orphan Village in Jinja, Uganda. The home will provide living space for an entire family, including a mother, father, and up to seven adopted children. The people at AOET are so grateful and excited to have this new home.
A group from Assist International is currently in Uganda. They were able to be on location for a ceremony held by the orphan village to celebrate the opening of the home.
We are so grateful for Nate, Kirk, and Julie. Their generosity has provided shelter, hope, and opportunity for an entire family in Uganda. Thank You!
