Community:Assist

Help us provide essential items to individuals and families overcoming hardship.

Why It Matters.

responding with relief

By distributing new and gently used store-bought returns such as food, clothing, furniture, personal hygiene products, and emergency supplies, we help people recover from suffering and hardship.

Assist International’s community:assist program provides essential items to disaster victims and other vulnerable communities in the U.S. and around the world. Our program is possible because of our wide range of partnerships. Together, we offer a hand up to individuals and communities in need.

With the recent tornadoes devastating the U.S., thousands of families are now left without heat or electricity. Together with our partners, we are responding quickly to distribute essential generators. These tools will assist those who need power for their medical devices, help families stay warm, and support any efforts to rebuild.

Together we can help these communities come back stronger than ever.

How We Do It

Our Approach

We distribute new or gently used store-bought goods to families and individuals in need, both locally and internationally. Locally, we serve disaster victims and partner organizations who serve people in need. Internationally, we work to empower communities in low-resource settings.

Local

In collaboration with over 1,000+ volunteers and over 100 local partner organizations, our community:assist program reaches thousands of people each year, such as: tornado and fire victims, domestic violence survivors, school children, foster youth, and refugees.

INTERNATIONAL

In partnership with organizations worldwide, we create sustainable opportunities for individuals like single mothers who need income opportunities. Examples include sewing machines for tailoring students, jewelry-making supplies for those in vocational training, and bicycles for improved transportation. In addition, our optical:assist program distributes much needed eyewear to those in need of glasses.

This program relies on the generosity of individual donors. If you would like to help someone in need of a hand up, please click here!

By the Numbers

our impact

While the COVID-19 mandates have created challenges, we have trained a team of safety compliant volunteers who diligently serve to keep this program running and distribute goods to families and individuals recovering from natural disasters and other hardships during this ongoing pandemic.

One Family’s Story

As wildfires have tragically devastated the West Coast, we are standing with all those who have lost their homes and livelihoods. Through our community:assist program, we continue to reach fire families every week with donated furniture, household items, and essential supplies to help them rebuild their lives.

Like many other wildfire survivors, the Keehl family faced the difficult process of starting over after smoke from the Camp Fire in 2018 devastated everything inside their home. Three years later, they’re still navigating this painful process. We are thankful for the opportunity to impact hundreds of fire families just like the Keehls, with practical resources and newfound hope.

“Because of people and programs like you, it has made the hardships we endured much easier and lets us know that others care about our needs and all we went through. You are all a huge blessing to those in need, and I thank you with all my heart for what you have done for so many, including me…I will not forget your kindness.”
